What do I wear to my Holiday Office Party?

It’s that time of year and you don’t know what to wear to your upcoming holiday office party. Don’t worry, you’re not alone! This is a question that plagues us all at this time of year. There are many different types of holiday office parties, dinners- all with different types of dress attire. Before you start guessing, ask around. It’s a fair question, and nothing to be embarrassed about. And if anyone tells you to wear a ball gown, I would get a second opinion. A majority of these events happen right after work. So the dress code is the same as what you wear to the office. Just take it up a level. Wear that new satin top you have been dying to try out. Pair it with a jacket or cardigan around the office, and ditch the layers for the party; or change into your new top while you are freshening up your make-up. For those of you just using the party as an excuse to buy something new? Here are some great finds for every budget!

Chose your outfit based on your office dress code. If you work in a casual office and wear jeans everyday, put on a pair with a dark wash. If you are wearing a flowy top, put on those great new straight jeans. Remember, now is not the time to wear ripped jeans-keep those for the weekend!

Business Casual, skip the pin stripes and pencil skirts-add some punch to your outfit. Pair a full skirt with some textured stockings a fitted top. You will have fun dancing all night long!

Now if you work in a Business environment, and it’s all business suits all the time-maybe it is time to put on a little party dress. Make sure the cut fits the level of conservative in your office. Our key advice at Workchic.com is to layer. A sparkly cami works great under a low V neck and a cute swing jacket can cover bare shoulders and still look ultra chic. Here are some great party dresses to check out!

We agree anyone can look chic at any size, here are a couple great Plus Size finds. Satin poke-a-dots make a great statement, take off the belt and layer a jacket over it for day. When you head to the party ditch the jacket and add the belt. This great wrap dress will float from day to night with style. Add a came underneath for a more conservative look.

And ladies, never forget about accessories! You don’t have to spend a lot of money to look great at the holiday office party. Metallic bags, beaded necklaces, can pop an entire outfit. Wear an unexpected color like blue or red with your LBD (little black dress) to make a statement. Here are some great ides to finish off your holiday party ensemble!

To help you in the meantime, here are some useful tips to perfect that business corporate look.

  1. Don’t be afraid to play around with color. Color is the easiest way to make a statement. Pick a bolder color or pattern shirt to wear under a traditional suit.

  3. Bold Jewel tones are a big trend for fall. Try and incorporate one of these colors into your outfit a couple times a week whether it be via a must-have patent bag or shoes.
