Rebecca Taylor knows how to dress women. Even though some of her criticis said she played it safe this Fall 09 season because of current economic conditions, she still managed to be right on trend with her sweet with an edge collection. The collection was focused around eight major pieces: two dresses, two skirts, two pants, one blouse, and one jacket. They were shown mixed and matched so it shows you can create mutiple outfits from just a few pieces in your closet.
We loved the leopard print coat with ruffle trim below accented with a skinny belt and worn over a printed dress. Perfect for the office!

We loved the frilly blouse paired with the slouchy trousers. Just pair it with a cardigan or jacket for the business casual look.

The blue floral print is a dres you can have in your wardrobe for all season. We love how it was paired with a crewneck sweater. You can easily wear it with the pants above or a black pencil skirt. We would add black opaque tights and boots for those chilly fall days.
We found some great looks from the previous Rebecca Taylor collections below. The pieces fit all of your wardrobe needs! The Black Laser Cut Jacket, Plaid Car Coat, Tweed Tank Dress were all found on shopbop.com.

We definitely see a recurring theme this week..Rocker chic is back. Her previous collections were more Upper than Lower East Side As she explained on nypost.com “this is the way I want to dress.” We can definitely tell by the use of skinny pants, bolder prints, and stylish dresses that she is up for change. We still loved the collection and had a hard time choosing our favorite outfits. They are perfect for your business casual days or when you just want a chic work outfit. All runway pics are courtesy of elle.com.
Love the print on this dress paired with black opaque tights and worn with a wide nautical theme belt. Skip the combat boots for work otherwise this is a perfect business casual outfit for the office!
This picture below displays how to use classic separates to create a timeless outfit. Pair the black pencil skirt with long cardigan, black belt (with detail) and polka dot blouse. Mix and match these pieces with your items in your wardrobe for numerous outfits.
We love the simple yet classic Tory black dress. Perfect for that meeting you have to attend. If you want to make it more casual pair with a more casual bag as shown below. We always like how the second outfit was styled with use of a more elegant skirt with a printed cardigan. The outfit is dressy but it perfect to take it from the office to a night out with friends. We love the slouchy boots since they don’t scream super casual and are perfect for the office.

We reviewed Nanette Lepore’s collection for Spring, and we’re in love with the floral prints. For fall she did not disappoint with more prints and even plaids walking down the runway. She paired these with uneven hem lines, a bright palette, and leopard belts. These looks should inspire your work wardrobe and your overall outlook. Nanette Lepore shied away from the monochromatic looks we saw earlier in the week and jumped into color with both feet.

Designer Shawn Kearny described his Fall 09 Cynthia Steffe collection as “uptown chic meets downtown cool. Tough and chic at the same time.” He delivered exactly that with collection shown in mainly black and jewel tones but captured the unexpected with a hint of metallic shine. He also stayed true to the classics: little black dress, cropped pant, blazer and pencil skirt which reminds us to utilize what we have in our closet! Here are a few of our favorite looks from the show. All runway pics are courtesy of zimbio.com.
We love the use of the cropped leather jacket, belted and worn with a silk dress. What’s not to love about the deep teal ruched turtleneck? You can easily wear that with a black skirt or charcoal pants. The third outfit may not flatter every silhouette but it is a great concept of pairing a cropped jacket over skirt. The pop of burgundy in the shirt and gloves adds the perfect contrast to the outfit.

We found some of the same classic influences in the Spring 09 collection. The Black Cotton Blend Jacket,
Black & White Balloon Top, and White Stretch Cotton Pant, take the classic approach to your business casual wardrobe. You can mix and match these pieces to make multiple outfits without having to spend a fortune! All of the items below were found on shop.com.

This Fall basics are not key for Tibi. Instead we are seeing print, color, and more exploded print. Bold and brightly colored prints catch women’s attention faster then any basic. While you may love them or hate them these runway looks are sure to grab your attention and inspire outfits with personality in your work wardrobe.
Tibi’s collections was accessorized with fur muffs instead of handbags. We also saw black legging and chic stilettos on every model. These first two looks have similar lines but a very different effect. One is bold and graphic the other is simple and textured.

When not about print or texture Tibi designer Amy Smilovic embraced fall’s silhouette for impactful shoulders and tiny waists. This petal skirt ads a little volume around the hips. If structured is not your thing she still has you covered in this floaty, printed, chiffon dress.

Jackets are chic in white or printed. Volume below the waist is still important along with shortened sleeves.

All over prints are chic, but so are styles with the print strategically placed.

Get Tibi’s Fall runway style now and update your work wardrobe today. Score a Tibi print in Spring colors in a silk keyhole blouse. Pair it with a petal wrap pencil skirt. Prefer the subtle A-line dress, we found that look for you too in a more springy short sleeve version.

The print on this dress is reminiscent of the fall jacket show above. Plus we found some placed printed dresses too.

We loved Tibi’s Fall runway show and hope you enjoyed our interpretation. All photo’s courtesy of Style.com. Find reviews of all the NY Fashion Week shows on their site. Tracy Reese channeled her inner school girl for her Fall 2009 runway show with looks complete with spectacles, knee high socks, and knit caps. We love how her dresses were uncomplicated and versatile for the everyday woman. Her use of prints and floaty chiffon fabrics can appeal to all type of silhouettes. She has the perfect collection for the office. Here are some of our favorite looks below. All runway photos are courtesy of zimbio.com.
We love this printed chiffon wrap blouse paired with pin striped black trousers. It is effortlessly chic! The next picture shows a great option to wearing a suit with the herringbone sheath dress and matching jacket. We would pair this with black opaque tights and black heels or boots to take the outfit to a business casual level.

The ruffle sleeve sweater is perfect for Fall and can be worn with anything in your wardrobe- from a black skirt to jeans. Tracy paired it with this tiered ruffle skirt which again would look great with black tights and heels/boots. We even liked how she was using tan oxfords throughout the show. The next dress is perfect for those days when you want to wear something from day to night. The velvet ruffle trim on the front of this brocade print dress adds just enough detail to take it from the office to cocktail hour.

Tracy uses the same type of fabrications in her latest Spring 09 collection. We found this cute
Brocade print chemise dress at fashionchateau.com. Pair it with a black blazer and black boots for that Winter to Spring transition.

We also found the following Tracy Reese finds: Printed Silk Ruffle Dress ,Navy Print Shirt Dress,Four Pocket Trench Coat, and Applique Lace Dress all on edressme.com.

Leave it to Marc Jacobs to deliver a fun filled runway show complete with oversized shoulder pads, slouchy trousers, day-glo colors- that quickly led us back to the days reminiscent of Madonna in the early 80′s. Now you may haved liked the 80′s-music that is- but there were some fashion trends -shoulder pads, slouchy socks, stirrup pants- that you may never want to relive again. Most of the pieces from the collection were geared towards those who wanted to channel their inner 80′s icon. However we did find some pieces that were workchic for your wardrobe. All photos courtesy of zimbio.com.
Though the color combination of the outfit below may read more Spring than Fall, we loved the kelly green coat with the pink paisley shift dress underneath. Love the scarf and gloves-would pop a charcoal grey or navy winter coat and instantly look workchic.

This is a great business casual look below. It’s very simple and understated. Maybe just try the hairstyle on the weekend and not for the office. Love the boyfriend cardigan with zipper details paired with black trousers. How creative was the slit in the placket of the cardigan-so easy to neatly tuck your scarf in there? Why didn’t we think of that?

We loved the modern elegance of the third outfit. Love the dusty mauve/rose capelet with the contrast navy/cream printed shirt underneath. It looks great paired with a black straight skirt and black opaque tights. The outfit and color combos just flow together. Even the use of plum suede boots look great but we would suggest trading them for a boot that was not over the knee for the office.

Marc utilized accessories to complete his looks above. We found the same Fall 09 influences on his Spring shoes and handbags found below. The Mustard flats with nickel detail were found on 6pm.com. Not only do they have the same attention detail on the outside but check out that fun print lining on the inside! We found the next pair of printed Ballerina Flats at endless.com. The next pair of Acid Yellow ballerina flats from 6pm.com foreshadow his Fall 09 collection and can be worn all year round. The Faridah Slouchy Hobo in Natural Linen also from 6pm.com, channels his 80′s influences above.

We love Jill Stuart’s feminine dresses and printed chiffon tops. This season she added a rock star edge with a collection inspired by “iconic women of music”. Leather, fringe, and ruffles supported both the edgy and her more traditional girly looks. We slid more toward the latter for styles that could translate into the office. Unless you’ll be going on tour this season, we recommend the following runway looks for your work wardrobe inspiration.
Shades of grey stripes are still strong and professional but come off more approachable then all black. We love the shapes created here. The bust-line on the dress gives an updated bow feeling without the extra flounce. The second look’s ruffled party skirt is brought back into reality with a sophisticated striped jacket. Paired with dress pants this jacket would be business casual any day of the week. Though we don’t recommend shading your eyes with a hat in the office.

Both of these looks have excellent inspiration too. Chiffon blouses can look professional tucked into tailored trousers. Puffed sleeves are still a big trend, and a nice way to add a little flair to an otherwise basic outfit. While we wouldn’t wear this white dress to the office, the details can be dissected into workable looks.

These two tops from Jill Stuart have the bow details at the waist and bloused sleeves as shown on the fall runway. Shirts are selling quickly; the green is available in size 0 and 2, the grey in sizes 4 and 6. We recommend wearing a cami underneath this top to avoid any unwanted skin views. Black and grey stripes are runway inspired and worn with tailored high waisted pants, ready to strut through the hallway.

This chiffon top pairs the gray stripes with the details of the chiffon top seen on the runway. You’ll be looking Workchic and runway ready in this blouse. This printed top would look perfect layered under a boyfriend style blazer; though since it’s on sale only a size 4 remains. Suede lace up ankle boots will complete your Jill Stuart look.
