ROY G BIV- What Color Are You Wearing?

We have already covered this topic a couple of times since the New Year.  Obviously we are passionate about the importance of breaking up your color routine. After reading the Editor’s Letter in Lucky Magazines March issue, we decided we had one more take on it.  Kim France discussed the lack of color in her wardrobe.  Apparently it has become so common for her to wear only black and/or white that her 6 yr old nephew picked up on it. After some reflection Kim notes, “In many quarters it’s not considered particularly sophisticated or even stylish to wear nothing but black anymore”. She goes on to explain that Spring is the best and easiest time to embrace color.  So, let’s take a page out of Kim’s book, well right out of Lucky Magazine, and add some color to our work wardrobes.

We’ve searched high and low and picked out the most office appropriate ways to update your closet for Spring and embrace color.  Check out these dresses, such an easy wardrobe solution for hectic mornings.

Ecoganik Criss Cross Neck Dress in Plum T-Bags Beasties Dynasty Dress  Women: Silk printed dress - Mojito green

First we must say that these dresses require cami’s underneath to make them office appropriate.  The first plum dress is 100% organic cotton and pretty versatile.  With a jacket, even in more conservative offices you will not raise an eyebrow in it. We like this next print dress because the shape is more sophisticated then your traditional sundress style.  Belted shirt dress in painted plaid is classic and updated all at once.  Also available in Petite Sizes.

Shoes, for those less adventurous this might be the perfect solution.  Even if you end up in all black, you can swap out your basic pumps for one of these beauties.

Women's shoes: Martinez Valero Whisper - Blue floral Women's shoes: Seychelles Babydoll - Off white Women's shoes: BCBGirls Ariel - Mulberry crinkle patent

Blue and Green Floral Peep Toe pumps scream Spring!  Wake up basic business casual with these, or pair with a green silk blouse for the full effect.  Add a little something to black and white with the pops of red on the second heels.  Criss-cross detail over the toe is very chic.  Crinkled patent leather is a great way to show your unique personality, also available in this season’s hot color-yellow.  All three of these Springy Peep Toe Pumps are available at Piperlime.com where you get free shipping and free returns on all purchases.

    Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.

Mumbai Mod Necklace SetWomen: Women's Faux Patent Skinny Belts - Zing! Leila Ribbed Enamel Rings

You get it, we are always talking about how you should accessorize your outfits before heading out the door to the office.  So why wouldn’t you use them to add some color for Spring?  Try this ornate coral necklace with a basic white blouse. Old Navy belts, on sale for only $9.50, have a clean classic front and pop of color in the back.  Also, available in Pink and Green. For one subtle splash of color try a ring from Max & Chloe.  Though we hope this will be additional to some other colors in your outfit.

So go shop for Spring and embrace colors.  We didn’t cover tops here because we did some pretty extensive research in previous posts.  If you missed them please read: Break Your Color Routine where we explored the color wheel and Really, It’s Time to Break your Color Routine where we showcased colorful prints.  Be sure Keep you selections office appropriate and look for feminine details in the silhouettes.  Look through our site for more ideas on how to embrace color this Spring.
