We received a tweet this week from one of our twitter friends that she almost missed her train trying to find an outfit that would look professional during the day and still fun for drinks at night. To help her and you out we are going to answer the question:
How do I go from the Office to Drinks in Style?
The easiest way to go from day to night is with a chic dress. During the day wear it with a cardigan and flats. When your ready to go out at night, swap your flats for your favorite pumps and lose the cardigan. We even found a chic clutch for you to accessorize with. Throw the clutch and heels in your tote for easy commuting. Then leave it under your desk or in your car when you head out for the evening. We threw in a beaded bracelet for your evening look, but you can probably wear that all day.

Our second look will work all day and all night. You will look polished and professional during the day and fun and stylish at night. It is not uncommon these days for more and more women to be working from their home office. Of course this is the chance to finally be super comfortable while working but will dressing like this woman every day really make you feel professional?
We suggest for all you home based freelancers, entrepreneurs, consultants, writers, bloggers etc out there to put your best foot forward and draw that line between personal and professional. Get out of those flannel pajamas, sweats, and furry slippers. Take a shower. Style your hair. Just because you don’t have your boss or HR dept watching you doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care about your appearance. You will convey that message to your significant other or children that you are in work mode. You can still dress comfortably and still look and feel your best. You’ll also feel more productive and less prone to distractions.
Now what if you have scheduled a prospective client meeting scheduled at your local Starbucks? The best solution is to dress casually but not messy. Skip the shorts, sneakers, and flip flops. You will be taken more seriously by that prospective client especially if you are charging a fee for your services.

Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. We know the weather is gorgeous and you are dying to head to the beach. Unfortunately that 9-5 keeps getting in the way. Be careful not to let you dreams of lounging in the sand creep into your appearance. We know it’s hot, but you still need to dress for the office. These are some of our favorite pieces to help beat the summer heat and still keep your look professional.

If your office is not too conservative, you can also go with capris or even knee length shorts. These we’re both found at Gap.com and also under $40. Make sure the shorts come to your knee to keep them work appropriate.
 
When you think of cardigans the words hot and winter may pop into your mind; but they are perfect this time of year. Light weight and short sleeve cardigans will fight off the chill of over air conditioned offices. This first style from Tobi is regularly $189, on-sale for $132. We don’t know about you but with the weather finally getting warmer we catch ourselves daydreaming about our favorite tropical destinations. Why not just add some tropical color into your wardrobe?
