Win a Scarf from The Vintage Scarf!

This week we added some new products to our site from independent retailers. One of those retailers is The Vintage Scarf.  In honor of her debut on Workchic.com we are running a give-away!  By leaving a comment on this post you can enter to win this scarf perfect for updating your work wardrobe.  This long green sheer scarf can be wrapped around your neck, worn as a belt, or… Why don’t you tell us!

Scarf Give-Away

The Vintage Scarf is an online women’s vintage fashion clothing store, specializing in one-of-a-kind scarves. Paula Horlick is a vendor and fashion consultant for these scarves as well as the clips and buckles that accessorize them.

As you know, scarves are back in style and hugely popular this year. All of her scarves are from eras ranging from the 1930s to the 1990s and are available at an affordable price.

By buying only those items featuring top-quality craftsmanship, and personally inspecting every scarf she makes sure you will be buying quality in her shop.

You can see more scarves specifically selected for us here, vintage scarves, plus we found a few more favorites from her site.  This first style is 30″ square and combines feminine birds with structured stripes.  The second style echos many of the ikat and tribal prints that are popular right now.  Our last choice has very traditional elements and will look chic with your boyfriend blazer and dark wash denim on Casual Fridays.

Paula was kind enough to donate the sheer green scarf for our give-away.  She would style it as a belt.

A winner has been selected. Thanks to everyone for their comments. If you didn’t win be sure to see all the styles we have available from The Vintage Scarf. They are perfect for accessorizing your work wardrobe.

  1. Now that my hair is super short and I can’t pull it back, scarves are a great way to change up my look. I would love to wear the green scarf as a headband with a cute outfit!

  2. I can’t really tell from the picture, but if it’s big enough I would wear it almost as a shaw. Around my neck, but also around the shoulders and then tied. But each day I would wear it different, maybe around my purse if I pick out a different one to wear that day :) I love scarves.

  3. I love throwing a scarf around my neck to drape down into a suit jacket to jazz up those blah monday meetings!

  4. Wrapped loosely around your shoulders is very chic in Chicago and DC worn with a simple black dress - it looks big enough to wear like a shawl but one side would be thrown over the shoulder a bit. I think this look could be business, casual or dressy! Accesorizing with adornment (jewelry, scarves, a cool or cute handbag, etc) can make an old outfit just like new and! It’s less expensive than buying new clothes. Although I don’t participate in the economy woes, I admit I have begun to purchase more accesories vs new clothing to spruce up what I have and save $. Hugs, kelly

  5. I want to wear it long and just hanging, kind of like a shawl! with a simple v-neck tee and cute accessories like a matching headband or something =)

  6. I love scarves! they’re the perfect accessories.. a little something to keep me warm on a breezy day, or something to highlight my outfit. and they’re so easily matchable.. i love to wear my scarves looped around my neck in a loose bundle!

  7. I would wear this lovely semi-sheer scarf with a black dress and mid-height heels, with only earrings and a bracelet, for a dinner at a nice restaurant. Or I would wear it with my black Banana Republic wool crepe blazer and pinstripe slacks to work, with black sling-back mid-heels. It looks like the perfect color to brighten up an outfit that is mostly black. Also depending on the size (which was not stated) it would be a great shawl too. Long, narrow scarves are my favorite size, I think they are the most versatile!

  8. I usually wear scarves as a headband or wrapped around my neck once, leaving the two sides dangling down evenly in the front.

    Comment by CentsInTheCity — July 6, 2009 @ 10:17 am

  9. I would wear it around my neck, real loose and flowy and just casual. Or as a head wrap. It seems so breezy. I love it.

  10. I just bought a plain black dress to wear to work - we have to wear solid black but can use any color accessories, shoes, etc. I would love to wear the green scarf as a belt with the dress, or sometimes wear the scarf around my neck, hanging down in front and probably with a clip around it. I love oblong scarves because of their versatility. I think this scarf would also look good with my tan safari jacket.

  11. I love scarves! My office is frequently cold, so I would use the scarf wrapped loosely around my shoulders with a black dress, or even a black skirt and simple top.

    Comment by Sara K — July 6, 2009 @ 1:30 pm

  12. Please don’t fall for the myth that scarves can’t be worn in the spring/summer months. I live in central Texas and rock my scarves with tank tops, jeans, and big earrings - that’s all you need to get all Diva-fied and sexy! :)

Scarves aren’t just for the office…especially if you work from home!

  13. My first inclination would be to wear it to dress up a casual Friday outfit. I’m thinking fitted blue jeans (and I mean straight leg, not dragging on the floor, not hanging too low off the waist: jeans that FIT rather than tight jeans), a tucked in white button down, that scarf looped around the neck, black flats, and maybe a grey/silvery hobo/tote bag (probably leather or imitation leather). Cute, functional, comfortable, and a dressed up casual Friday look so you don’t look like you’re slumming it at the office.

  14. Okay, I absolutely L-O-V-E scarves. …I have more than I can count, in every color imaginable ranging in sizes from a 12 inches to 46 inches and beyond…from designers that no longer exist and I’m sure some have never heard of. …In my past life, I traveled the US conducting wardrobe & scarf-tying workshops for a legendary “All American” designer.

All that said, this is a great scarf in a beautiful color. Since it’s summer and the scarf is so light, I’d wear it tied in my hair at the bottom of a braid flowing down my back, with a great halter style open-back dress. A jacket covering the open back in office, but when the jack comes off…

  16. I absolutely love scarves… no matter the season. It is multi-functional — scarves can also be worn as a head band, bandana, belt or even as a shirt! :)

  17. I agree with Donna J (comment #12) I love the scarf for summer! Today I’m wearing a big white flowy sleeveless top over jeans. I topped it off with big silver hoops and a light grey & pale purple tiny animal print scarf. Finally, 1 outfit out of 365 that I like. Oy!

  29. I love scarves, especially the ones that are vintage-y. I like it sloppily thrown over my back and dangles on my shoulder. I know I will still look chic, it’s a scarf after all - the ultimate accessory! :)

  30. I would wear it during my commute, with a light jacket — I saw a woman today doing the same, and she was so chic and put together, I went to my desk and started looking at scarves online. And then you offered this up — it’s like kismet!

  37. I’m short, so I might not wear the scarf as a belt. The print and material of the scarf looks chic and elegant, so I’m sure it would look great with a white button down or as a shawl for a LBD.

    Comment by Lisa — July 11, 2009 @ 1:38 pm

  38. I’d wear it as pictured (belted), except just under the bust - with a crisp white dress shirt, jeans or slacks, heeled sandals, coordinating jewellry and a sophisticated pony tail. I’d change out the crisp dress shirt for a tank or T, and tie the scarf into my hair for after hours. This would be my day-to-evening transition for a balmy Houston spring or summer - a nice “uniform” punched up with just the scarf keeps thing interesting, and makes the transition possible.

  42. I, too, love scarves! You can’t go wrong with a few very nice basic pieces in your wardrobe. Splurge on a few nice neutral skirts, slacks…add nice solid blouses, add a scarf, and voila! You’ve not only created your “signature style”, but your wardrobe will remain timeless and classic!

My favorite look: crisp white oxford, black slacks, black pumps, and a striking scarf! (To take the look into the evening, and your climate tends to be a little cooler…add a jean jacket! It creates a more casual look, provides the warmth that you need, and just looks “cool!”) ;-)

  43. I would wear it with a simple white top and a jacket to accentuate the scarf.

    Comment by Karen — July 14, 2009 @ 5:50 pm

  44. i love to be creative with scarf; other than wearing it as usual, it can also be worn as a headband or tied around your ponytail, as a belt or if it’s a big scarf then you could wrap it around your torso to create a top! And sometimes i just tied it in my bag so it makes my boring bag looks tres chic ^^

  45. I would wear this gorgeous scarf around my neck to dress up my boring, everyday jeans and a tank top outfit.
