    Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Milly

Milly designer Michelle Smith is known for her 60′s inspired sheath dresses.  So while the rest of the designers were concentrating on bright colors and floral patterns for the Spring season, Michelle took it another direction and focused the collection around the color black.  She also debuted her costume jewelry collection which we adored all the chunky necklaces and bracelets.  We were excited to see that the separates from the outfits from her Spring 2010 collection translated perfectly for the office.  Take a look below.  All runway photos courtesy of Style.com.

Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Nanette Lepore

Nanette Lepore’s Spring 2010 collection was all about color and she was afraid to express. She used acid yellows, orange, hot pinks, army green in a myriad of playful prints and stripes.  They worked even when worn together even down to the colorful sandals and heels.  Here are some of the pieces we loved for those casual days at the office.  All runway photos are courtesy of Style.com.

You can add Nanette Lepore to your work wardrobe.  Here are some of our Fall faves found on Workchic.com!

Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Tracy Reese

The Spring Collection from Tracy Reese was well thought out with practicality mixed into her personal flare for girly dresses. She added in more separates to mix and match pieces.  Her palette was inspired by painter Pierre Bonnard and mixed sun-bleached brights with punches of bold color.

Elasticized bubble hems were a continuing theme.  While these are hard to wear to work, they look fun marching down the runway.  To get this look of structured and soft, mix tailored jackets or vests with full skirts.

From bubble hems to polka dots. This is a much more modern way to do a circular pattern. Whether in shades of black or blue, it is the focus of these looks. Remember when using a bold print, keep the rest of your outfit more basic. Adding a bold shoe is the perfect twist.

To start wearing Tracy’s styles for fall play with color and print. Pair with legging for casual days at the office.

Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring collection was nomad traveler chic. Floating layers and eclectic tribal inspired prints set the stage for a luxurious blend of urban and hippie styles.  We always enjoy her show and this was no exception. Many of the looser layered styles were less likely to translate to your office so we focused on the slightly more tailored silhouettes.

DVF Spring Dress DVF Tribal Dress

From a classic DVF wrap dress, to a belted jacket, her collection utilized prints to there max.  We love the pops of color achieved with piled on bangles and over-sized hobos.

    Spring 2010 DVF DVF Dress

Aqua and orange are some of our favorite colors for this Spring. While you may shy away from mixing and matching them, they are complimentary and have a sophisticated feel. The best way to experiment with colors you are unsure of is in a printed dress. Diane von Furstenberg shows you how with this collection.

Since this collection transitioned seamlessly from Fall, there are many styles you can pick up now that evoke the style for DVF’s Spring collection.  Play with tribal prints, complimentary colors, and loose silhouettes.

Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Derek Lam

The collection from Derek Lam was sophisticated and had lots of feminine appeal. He used more color then we are used to seeing, and we liked it!  High waisted skirts and billowing blouses created striking silhouettes. Models conjured up images of classic Americana circa nineteen-forty without looking like they were wearing costumes. We loved the mix of solids and patterns softly draped and pieced for effortless style. These looks could walk right off the runway into your office and here is how.

Derek Lam Derek Lam Drape Neck Sleeveless Blouse

Fresh Spring style is achieved with a star print blouse with soft cowl neck. To get this look for Fall, pick up a Derek Lam Drape Neck Sleeveless Blouse from his fall line.

Spring Derek Lam Derek Lam Floral Dress with Bow Tie

We’ve already shown you how floral can go from Spring to Fall so why not take them from the runway to your office? Blooming roses are fun in Derek Lam’s Spring collection. For Fall, painted roses are right on Que with a tied neckline, Derek Lam Floral Dress with Bow Tie is a splurge but so chic!

Spring Derek Lam Derek Lam Asymmetrical Draped Blouse

We love a draped bodice. While the runway look is a bit riskay for the office, this buttery yellow style is perfect!

We really enjoyed this collection and are already looking forward to Spring. Pictures are courtesy of Style.com. Here are a few more looks from Derek Lam’s Spring runway show we just couldn’t leave out.
