Dolce Vita Claudine pumps on sale

One thing you can never have enough of is shoes!  Never.  Hahaha.  Here is a shoe that caught our attention immediately.  The Dolce Vita Claudine pump offers the perfect balance between pump and boot!  The bootie style gives it a nice edge combined with the allure of a stiletto pump.  These sexy-and-versatile heels will add a fabulous sophistication to your work outfits.  We are thinking of a pencil skirt and a crisp blouse.  The possibilities are endless.  Your career style-o-meter will go off the charts!  Don’t let the 5″ heel fool you.  You will actually be standing on less than a 4″ heel with the stacked platform.  The black pair is now on sale for $99.99 $170 at Piperlime.  We love the elegant nude pair just as much.

    Helping Everyone Dress to Impress

As you know we are very passionate about you looking your best for your interviews and everyday in the office. Well we are not the only ones.  Dress to Success has been focused on this mission for years and recently www.Heels.com got in on the initiative. We’re here to tell you more and what you can do to help.

Melissa and I have been helping out as Personal Shoppers at Dress For Success for the last year.  Many of you may know them as an organization that gives suits to women.  They do that and so much more.  As personal shoppers, we help women who have interviews scheduled find a suit that fits them and is appropriate for their job market.  This personalized experience helps build their confidence in preparation for their pending interview.  After we get them “suited” they speak to a career counselor that helps them further prepare for questions they may be asked and educate them on their rights.

Once they get the job they are invited back to Dress for Success.  At this time we help them select a weeks worth of clothing for their new office environment.  One weekend we helped a women who’s job required a week of training on the other side of the country.  It was very rewarding to virtually pack her suitcase for this business trip. We could see her confidence build knowing this was one less thing she needed to worry about. After this second suiting they speak with the career counselor again and are signed up for The Professional Women’s Group.  This group meets monthly and focuses on building a career, enhancing professional skills, and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

What can you do to help? Have you been considering Spring cleaning? Clean out your closet and donate any professional clothing to your local Dress for Success office. They take more then suits.  You can donate separates, shoes, handbags, even jewelry. Anything that would be appropriate to wear to work.  Volunteering or making a monetary donations are more options. Visit their website and decide what works for you.

Heels.com helped by donating shoes to women in Charlotte, NC preparing for their interviews. Shoes for Every Woman at Heels.com! They have also decided to donate in a couple additional locations in North Carolina.  Help Heels.com continue the ability to give back by doing some shopping for yourself.

Then when you are ready to clean out your closet again, you’ll have more professional shoes to donate.  We love when giving back comes full circle!

    Workout Chic

Whether you made a New Year’s resolution to stay in shape or already have a great program you are keeping up with, we want to talk to you about your workout clothes.  Don’t worry we’re not talking full make-up at the gym.  What we are really concerned about is those of you that have gyms at your offices, or work out with your co-workers.  Do you go from your suit to your sweatpants and expect to keep your professional image intact?  Being able to workout at the office is great.  Just remember to dress respectably.  We’ve put two looks together for you.

We found a knit jacket at Puma with contrast details that have an amazing slimming effect.  Graphic T-shirts like this one will also keep you looking pulled together and still ready to workout.  Pair these black pants and a sporty suede sneakers to complete the look.

Go for scoop neck tanks, they will be less revealing.  This red tank from BEBE Sport has mesh details and a back pocket perfect for a locker key or extra pony tail holder.  This tank has matching pants and a great jacket also.

Keep your professional image intact whether you are in a meeting or at the office gym.  And keep at that Workout Program, you look great!

Step 4 of Your Workchic Resolution

Last week we set up a Workchic Resolution.  To help encourage you, we wanted to share a story.

In our resolution outline, Step 4 was analyzing your closet.  A few years ago my Mother and I took a weekend and did just that.  I asked her to write about her experience.

“My daughter gave me a great gift… A “How do I look Weekend? … A closet purge. Now ladies I know I’m not the only one who’s closet contains every suit I ever owned and more than three different sizes of clothing.  Now is the time to purge.  If it’s out-dated, over or undersized, or just not the best purchase get rid of it.  Donate to a women’s work charity. I used Jobs for Jackets.  Workchic supports Dress for Success.  There are many other organiztions throughout the country.  Everyone wins, a deserving women gets ready for a job interview and you get a tax deduction plus more room in your closet for the right clothes.  The gals at Workchic really do practice all those great ideas and tips they pass along.  So grab your best buddy and laugh, cry, haggle and play tug a war. The rules are simple, no cheating, no hiding.  Nothing is sacred, not shoes or your dresser drawers.  And believe me, excuses don’t work.  Make three or four piles, keep, toss, repair, donate.  Check out the Workchic website for a list of tailors in your area to help with repairs.  There are also great tips throughout the blog on how to freshen up your whites and put color back into your blue jeans.

One tip that really stuck with me was; Group by color.  I like Red.  I had enough red to wear it five days a week.  Really! How did that happen?  It was like having a work uniform; boring and I really don’t like conformity all that much.  Now when I look for something new I  check myself.  Do I already have enough of that in my closet?  My new problem colors are autumn shades from rust to orange.

Oh boy the stories we can tell about that weekend. She dug all my cowboy boots out of the back of the closet.  I got to pick one and only one because they were back in style of a while. I think she had been just waiting for an opportunity to purge them.  When we were done I felt like I had a fresh new wardrobe to work with, and you will too. Now is a great time to create room for the holiday gifts you received and great bargains you have been finding.”

When I arrived at my Mother’s house for Christmas this year, she had an extra gift waiting for me.  This box of clothes ready to be donated.  A quick glance showed that she not only listened but remembered the things we talked about.

    Donate to Charity

Have this experience yourself and start building a wardrobe that not only expresses your personal style but displays a confident, professional image when you walk into a room!
